Arturo Martinez

Co-Owner & VP of Finance

Arturo Martinez husband to a beautiful wife Sonia Pitonez, and two beautiful kids, Jordan Martinez Pitones (18 years old) & Hadasa Martinez Pitonez (4 years old), Co-owner & VP of finances of Morningstar Construction Group. I believe a strong accounting and finance foundation allows a company not only to grow but withstand the test of time.

Working in the construction industry for the last 21 plus years I have had the privilege of working with many home builders around Arizona and individual home owners as well. Building someone's dream home has been one of the most rewarding part of working in construction. Taking someone's idea, which is on a set of plans, and making it a reality is what construction is all about.

I have also had the privilege of working alongside some amazing people who pushed me to become not just a better worker, but a better person all around. At the same time all the knowledge which I gained through those amazing people I passed it on to those who I was in charge of. The process of seeing other people grow within a company and as a person is, in my opinion, the most rewarding part of working in construction.

When I'm not helping customers make their projects a reality, or helping co-workers become better versions of themselves, my wife and two kids along with myself serve the Lord at our church helping people grow spiritually. There is nothing that I can accomplish in my professional life which comes close to the blessings I receive when a person who is broken by life, reconciles their relationship with God and now walk with a purpose.

In a nutshell my goal is to help people, whether it is by helping customers making their projects become a reality, helping co-workers better themselves in their work life and personal life, or helping people grow spiritually, I am here to serve.

Sometimes people ask me  "José, what do you do for a living?" Work is not what I do for a living, but the approach I use to make sure that everything I do is done well. What I do for a living is take the time to make sure that  what I do is the best I can do without taking shortcuts. What I do for a living is take time during the day for spiritual growth and go for walks with my wife while we talk about how the day has gone. What I do for a living is take the time to listening to my kids talk about what's going on in their lives. What I do for a living is spend time playing with my grandkids any chance I have. Bottom line, what I do for a living is what makes me feel ALIVE!

The greatest achievement of my professional career is the blessing of training workers in multiple areas and helping them develop a great work ethic for almost three decades.

Even though I graduated from NAU with my bachelor’s in business management, I discovered I didn’t want to work in the corporate world. I stumbled into roofing back in 2016 and fell in love with construction. I worked my way up to CEO of a local roofing company, learning everything I could. From inspecting, to customer interactions, to the day to day operations of the company, I never felt like I was working. I’ve always been passionate about helping people and being in roofing really allowed me to do that. However, I wanted to be able to help more people, not just in roofing.

Just like the roofing industry, the general construction industry gets a bad rap. I know so many horror stories from family and friends and my partners and I want to be able to bring our SHIELD core values to everyone. To be able to help and bring that peace of mind to everyone knowing that they are in good hands. That we will provide great, quality work and take care of you no matter what.

When I am not working, I am either cooking, working out, watching the Suns/Cardinals games, playing with my dogs, or spending quality time with my beautiful wife and daughter. On top of all that, I give the credit and glory to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for everything. Without Him, I wouldn’t be who I am today and every day I try as best I can to be a light, to represent Him in all I do.
